OK, fine, WHATEVER!

So I realized that I've been rationalizing my laziness.

I probably spend as much, if not more, on the junk food crap than I do on the healthy fruits and veggies.

I eat a lot more crap. Sure, I can get a burger for a dollar at Jack in the Box, but do I eat just one burger? No, I eat a couple cause those dollar burgers are super small. And then I justify getting some fries and Diet Coke. Guess what? That meal did not just cost a dollar! It cost at least $5.

I started out with having a muffin for breakfast. Cause I could get a pack of 4 for $1.99. So that's 50 cents each. I was spending about $5 on fruit, especially if I was getting berries. Well, do you think I would eat just one muffin? Nope I'd end up eating a second one within an hour. And then after that I'd still be hungry. Cause simple carbs are wholey unsatisfying and lead to cravings and hunger pangs. Simple carbs are of the devil!! Well, after eating so many muffins, I decided I needed a more satisfying breakfast. Enter Jack in the Box and their Denver Breakfast Bowl. Scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, some kind of white cheesy sauce all over a bunch of hash browns. My arteries clogged up just a bit more by writing that! Of course, I got the combo - which meant a side of... more hashbrowns! And a large Diet Coke.

In less than a month I went from eating a big bowl of fresh fruit for breakfast, to a fast food bowl of fat and cholesterol topped off with 64 ounces of Diet Coke.

W. T. F?!

Oh, and BTW - that combo breakfast bowl with Diet Coke... yeah, that comes to just under $6! Saving money who?

What a load of crap. Who am I trying to fool? I'm not saving any money. If anything I'm spending MORE! AND I feel like crap, I'm gaining weight, I don't feel like exercising any more... major downward spiral!

So today, I bought some fruit in season: nectarines, plums and red raspberries (all on sale! YAY!) and I picked up the fixin's for my favorite salad: romaine, lime, avocado, tomato, red onion and sweet white corn.

Breakfast was two nectarines, a plum and 6 oz of red raspberries.

Snack: yoplait fat free yogurt (I had some in the fridge from an attempt at healthy eating 2 weeks ago)

Moment of weakness: small bag of white cheddar Cheez-its

Lunch: the aforementioned awesome salad

Frustration and anger snack: small oreo cookie shake and onion rings from Jack in the Box (hey, I'm workin' on it!)

When I got home from work: Jalapeno and cheddar tortilla chips with medium hot salsa

Ok, so it wasn't exactly a perfect on-plan day. BUT there was some major improvement. And I bought enough fruits and veggies today that I'm all set for tomorrow. I'm hoping to eventually be back to just fruits and veggies. I may have the occasional slip or indulgence. But I'll keep moving forward.

Tomorrow morning will see some intentional exercise. Even if it's just 20 minutes. But I will do something!
